PromptPay QR

Create a PromptPay QR to receive money from a phone or ID number, and decode existing QR codes. Nothing is stored.

Limits

  • This is a QR for transfers to a personal account (credit transfer), not a merchant Bill Payment QR. It has no Biller ID, no reference and no slip check.
  • We do not keep phone numbers, ID card numbers or payloads, and we have no way of knowing whether a payment was made. Your own system has to check that the money arrived.
  • Creating and decoding are unlimited. QR images (qr.png) are limited to 60 per IP every 15 minutes. If you create many, take the payload and draw the QR on your side.
  • We can only check the format and checksum, not whether a number is really linked to PromptPay. The bank app shows the recipient's name to confirm when scanning.
  • This page calls the same API you can call yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print a PromptPay QR sign for my shop?
Yes. Create a QR, add a shop name (optional) and press A4 sign. You get a PDF with a large QR, the shop name, the PromptPay number with some digits hidden, and the amount if you entered one. Print it and stand it up or stick it at your shop. The file is made on your device. The sign's wording is in Thai.
How is this different from the QR a shop gets from its bank?
A merchant QR (Bill Payment, tag 30) has a Biller ID and a reference so the system knows who paid which bill, and the bank offers payment alerts. The QR from this tool is the personal kind (tag 29). It suits freelancers, small shops and invoices where you check the money yourself.
If I set an amount, can the payer change it?
In most bank apps, a QR with a set amount (tag 01 = 12) locks the amount. If you want the payer to enter it, leave amount out.
Can I draw the QR myself from the payload? What settings do I need?
Yes. Use any QR library with the payload text exactly as it is, in byte mode, with error correction M or higher. No prefix is needed.
Why doesn't my ID card number pass?
The 13th digit is a checksum of the first 12, so one wrong digit fails. Check it on the Thai text tools page first. If it is correct and still fails, tell us and include the requestId.
Is it safe to send a phone number?
Requests are not stored and their contents are not logged. QR images are sent with no-store so caches along the way do not keep them. If you are not comfortable, create the payload and draw the QR on your side without calling qr.png.
