Thai bank slip QR reader
Paste a transfer slip image to read the small QR code and extract the sending bank and reference number, with a CRC check. Images are not uploaded.
Limits
- The slip image is read in your browser with jsQR and is not uploaded. Only the text inside the QR is sent for decoding, and we do not keep that text.
- The QR on a slip holds only the sending bank's code and a reference number. It has no amount, name or account number. The figures on a slip image can be edited with photo software, so being able to decode the QR does not mean the money has arrived.
- To confirm a slip is real, the reference number has to be checked with the bank: look for the incoming amount in your bank app, or use a slip verification API connected to the banks, which costs money. We are not connected to any bank.
- Recognizes the 28 bank codes published by the Bank of Thailand. Other codes still decode but show no bank name. Slips from e-wallets other than TrueMoney may use a different structure.
- If the QR can't be found, crop the image so the QR is bigger, or use the original screenshot. An image compressed by being sent through chat may not be readable.
- Decode as often as you like. This page calls the same API you can call yourself.
Frequently asked questions
- Can this catch fake slips?
- Only as a first step. If the QR won't decode or the CRC doesn't match, that slip is definitely suspicious. But a fake made by editing the figures on a real slip still has a valid QR. Always check the reference number with the bank or look for the money in your account.
- What can I do with the reference number?
- It is the number the sending bank uses to identify the transfer. Give it to the bank if there is a problem, or send it to a slip verification service (such as your bank's) to confirm the actual amount and time of the transfer.
- Why is there no amount?
- Thailand's slip QR standard stores only enough for the system to find the transaction: the bank code and the reference number. The amount and names appear only on the slip image, which can be edited. That is why you need to check with the bank.
- Can I scan with my phone camera?
- Yes. Tap to choose an image and pick the option to take a photo, or screenshot the slip in your bank app and choose that image. It works the same on iPhone and Android.
- Where does my slip image go?
- Nowhere. The QR is read in your browser. All we receive is the short text inside the QR (about 60 characters), and it is not stored.
